Enigma Library

From Enigma Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

A 1000+ volume of science fiction and fantasy books, as well as games and other media. The library is sustained by Enigma member donations, and is currently in desperate need of new shelving, a cataloging/scanning system, bookplates, a computer, and most importantly, space, for both current and future acquisitions. Although this collection (mostly paperbacks) is impressive from an individual viewpoint, it is dwarfed by other known club collections, such as that of LASFS, the Los Angeles Science Fiction Society, and the 8000+ volume collection held at Caltech by SPECTRE. Members may check out any item free of charge, either in person, or online (via e-mail) for Tuesday delivery at meetings (see Checkout Procedures below). The library is currently housed at PASTCO.

[edit] Current Librarian

The current librarian (2007-2008) is Shannon Stuart, one of the residents of PASTCO, and also a manga librarian for JAC. The previous librarian was Nick Ingwersen, who volunteered for the position on Tuesday, October 17th, 2006, and served for a year before heading off to find his fortune on the east coast. The librarian prior to that was Graydon Schlichter, one of the residents of the FIRM.

[edit] In-Person

Contact the librarian, and check out a book. Convenient times to do this are on Saturdays before or after Battlestar Galactica screenings, or on other days where events happen at PASTCO.

[edit] In-Meeting Delivery

To check out an item, take a look at the current holdings section below, select what you want, and e-mail the request to Shannon Stuart with the subject heading "Enigma Library Checkout Request". Because books are currently boxed, it may take a while to find your selection. No gratuity required, but thanks are appreciated.
